Paid break vs unpaid lunch
A paid break is counted as work time, so it usually stays inside your paid hours. An unpaid lunch is subtracted from paid time, so you usually need to remain at work longer to reach the same paid hours.
Good records to keep
- Your actual clock-in time.
- Your lunch start and lunch end time.
- Your final clock-out time.
- Any rounding shown by your timekeeping system.
