Basic overtime formula

Overtime hours = max(0, weekly paid hours - overtime threshold)

If your regular rate is $20 and your multiplier is 1.5x, the overtime rate is $30 per hour. Two overtime hours would estimate to $60 of overtime pay.

Example pay table

Rate OT hours Multiplier OT pay
$1821.5x$54
$2031.5x$90
$2542x$200

Important notes

  • Some rules use daily overtime, weekly overtime, or both.
  • Breaks may be paid or unpaid depending on policy and local rules.
  • Bonuses, shift differentials, or local requirements can change the regular rate calculation.
